For a father who is taking care of the kids while mom is at work, one of the hardest things to do is think of things to play with the girls. There are a few types of games girl like to play, and not all of them do you have to play along, just sit back, relax and watch her do all the work.

One of the types of games girls like to play is dress up. This can be done on the computer if you find the right sites, but it is always more fun if she gets to play it in person. While it is nice to have a box full of clothes that she can get dressed up in, this can be expensive, but don’t worry. If you take your old t-shirts, curtains , or other cloths that you are getting rid of, you can throw these in the wash and turn them into clothes for your little girl. This can be a lot of fun for her if she gets to tell you the type of clothes she wants and what fabric to use. Just remember that sowing can be dangerous, so it is best if you do most of the work yourself. If she is old enough she may be able to handle a needle and thread if you give her a thimble, or teach her to use the sewing machine with observation.

Another game you can play is home designer. This is sort of like dress up for the house. If you do it as a real life game you may even be able to get her to do some of the chores for you. If she wants to change the blinds , tell her she needs to wash the walls first so that the other blinds will not contrast. Or if you don’t have cloth blinds, maybe she wants to change out the plants on the window sill, now is a good time to make her dust around the windows and along the shutters. This game can turn out well for you and her. You will get some good housework out of her, teach her work ethic, and she will be allowed to express her imagination and creativity while having a lot of fun.
